Amid many cancelations of pro-life events across the country, pro-lifers in Florida were determined to march for the end of abortion.
Starting at the shrine of Our Lady of La Leche in St. Augustine, Florida, the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) joined over 100 people on January 16 for a march to the magnificent fort, Castillo de San Marcos, and eventually to the city’s Constitution Plaza.
With a beautiful statue of Our Lady of Fatima in procession, the event was held to the sounds of bagpipes and Marian hymns as onlookers gazed in awe.
“Nothing Will Stop Us”
“I’ve heard that many marches have been canceled and have gone virtual,” said TFP Volunteer Zechariah Long.
“That won’t stop us. We will march in public so everyone can see that abortion is a horrendous sin that must be stopped. We must take a public stand for moral values,” he affirmed.
Many marchers were consoled that there was also a physical march for life in addition to the official caravan.
After arriving at Castillo de San Marcos, the pro-lifers gathered around the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. They sang the beautiful Marian prayer, Hail Holy Queen, which set the tone for the rest of the march.
‘Backbone of America’
From the fort, the march finished at Constitution Plaza in downtown St. Augustine. TFP representative Norman Fulkerson delivered an inspiring speech and declared, “You are the reason why America hasn’t fallen.”
“You are out on the frontlines, day in and day out, fighting the good fight tirelessly against abortion.” He concluded by saying, “You are the backbone of America. Don’t ever give up.”
The pro-life movement must hold fast in the fight against abortion. Even with so much uncertainty that 2021 brings, confidence in the Blessed Mother is needed. She is the solution to the moral crisis affecting the nation.
She is the guiding light that will lead America out of the darkness. With her, abortion can be stopped, and victory will be achieved.
