July 22 – Boothbay Harbor and Lewiston, Maine

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Well, today was one of those days. It rained and, in consequence, we were not able to do a morning campaign. Instead, we decided to take care of the practical aspects of being on the road: laundry and cleaning. Before we started, however, we went to Mass. The priest who said Mass was supportive and talked with us for a long while before Mass. He related that he had actually seen us the day before and had honked his horn. (He was very clear on this point!)

After lunch, the rain stopped and we decided to go back to Lewiston to do a short campaign. Our plan was to arrive at around four o’clock to catch the evening rush hour. That did not happen or at least not the way we planned. A road closure forced us to take a long roundabout way that delayed us about an hour.

When we finally arrived in Lewiston, we set up and had a short but profitable campaign. As it was rather late, there was not much traffic and people seemed tired but that did not deter them. Honks sounded and comments flew.

Until next time, and please continue to pray for the Maine Caravan!
