The pro-homosexual lobby is trying to turn October, the month of the Holy Rosary, into a month celebrated by the “LGBTQ” movement. Such efforts are running into opposition and failure.
October 2025 has been a month of defeats for the movement in Texas. Local protests against attempts to normalize homosexual sin at “LGBT family festivals” have stopped immoral shows and other manifestations centered on “Pride.”
One important spearhead of promoting this agenda is drag queen story times for children. Many activists see these horrific shows targeting children as a way to influence the future. Indeed, a drag queen from Lafayette, Louisiana, named Dillon Pontif said it best. In public testimony before the Lafayette City Council, he said, “This [drag queen story time] is going to be the grooming of the next generation.”
Protesting Child Grooming at the Katy Water Park
One pro-homosexual group called Katy Pride planned its “family-friendly” drag shows at Typhoon Texas Water Park in Katy, Texas, for October 18. When news spread that the event would have drag queen shows for children, the public backlash was strong. Local residents began to voice their protests by phone and online.
Why America Must Reject Isolationism and Its Dangers
Tradition, Family, Property-Texas and America Needs Fatima planned to join other Catholics for an on-site protest on October 18 near the park. The plan was to pray the rosary, sing hymns and hold banners and signs.
Typhoon Texas Cancels Katy Pride
Then came the surprising news. On the eve of the Katy Pride Celebration, Typhoon Texas canceled the event, citing safety concerns. “Typhoon Texas has made the decision to cancel its agreement to serve as the venue for the Katy Pride event,” Typhoon Texas said in an emailed statement. “This decision was made with concern for the safety and security of our guests and staff members, which must always remain our top priority.”
The security concerns must be directed toward the left. The TFP has long protested these events in a peaceful and legal manner. There has never been any violence on the part of the participants. However, several protests have been attacked violently by those supporting these shows, leading to arrests. In one case, a pro-homosexual activist threw down and damaged a statue of Our Lady.
Eternal and Natural Law: The Foundation of Morals and Law
The cancellation left Katy Pride scrambling for a new venue. Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones bailed them out by offering the group the venue of the Bear Creek Rodeo Arena. This venue is located in a very remote forested part of Houston. “This was a real step down from the Typhoon Texas Water Park,” said TFP Texas volunteer Kevin Roman, who protested the event.
Rosary Rally Protest at Bear Creek Rodeo Arena
On October 18, Tradition, Family, Property-Texas gathered together with around 20 local Catholics at the entrance to pray the rosary and peacefully protest the event. They carried a banner with the words, “Drag Queen Story Hour is Child Abuse!” Other signs had phrases like, “Biology is not bigotry,” or “Honk against gender ideology.” Homosexual activists were not happy. Many would scream at the rosary when driving in or out of the Arena. Others would shake their heads. The change of venue obviously upset attendees.
Filipino Street Festival Cancels Drag Performance
Earlier the same day in Sugar Land, another “pride” event faced opposition. The Filipino Street Festival was scheduled to have drag queen performances. Goldi Lux Brooks said on his Instagram page, “This queen is making HERSTORY by being the first drag artist to perform at the Filipino Street Festival on October 18.” This post was followed by a rainbow flag image.
Tradition, Family, Property-Texas and America Needs Fatima circulated a rosary rally protest invitation. Then, just days before the event, the drag queen performance was quietly removed from the schedule. No public announcement was made. Not sure if the performance would still happen, the TFP still held the rosary rally.

During the protest, the police and some witnesses inside the festival confirmed that the drag queen was absent. The rally became a rosary of thanksgiving and victory. “What were they thinking to have a drag queen perform at a family-friendly cultural festival?” complained rally participant Elvia Leyva. “Protests work!” said a jubilant TFP Texas volunteer named Remington Huffaker.
A Month of Setbacks for the Homosexual Revolution
One lesson from these protests is that sometimes it only takes the announcement of a protest to close down a drag queen event. Hosting venues do not like controversy.
Thus, protests and online backlash made the month of the Holy Rosary a difficult month for the pro-homosexual movement in Texas. Homosexual pride festivals have had different venues cancel them. Millard’s Crossing Historic Village in Nacogdoches, Texas, cancelled the Pineywoods Pride Festival after the non-profit’s board of directors voted 7-5 to cancel it. “Safety concerns” was the reason given. New Braunfels Pride Fest was forced to change venues due to local pushback. Both of these events, like Katy Pride, were grooming children with all-ages-admitted drag shows.
Symbolic Rainbow Crosswalk Removed
In Houston’s Montrose neighborhood, notorious for its homosexual depravity, a massive rainbow crosswalk was removed from the asphalt. Despite protests, Governor Greg Abbott ordered its removal. On October 20, road construction crews went to work. The HPD arrested several protestors for trying to stop the work.

The Houston Chronicle quoted a longtime resident of Montrose named Laura Conley. She captured the symbolism of the removal of the rainbow crosswalk well. “… they didn’t just take the paint off…,” she said. “they went down inches… It’s like they’re digging a soul out.”
Indeed, the roots of this pro-homosexual revolution go deep. May Our Lady of the Holy Rosary uproot and drive away the demons of this revolution that has so harmed the nation. Only then will America be a country that honors purity and where innocence can thrive.
