The June 21 attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities contains three very important lessons that run counter to many false narratives circulating these days. One of these comes from those opposed to the attack. They claim this action did not reflect the will of the American people.
These three lessons can serve as a reality check, allowing Americans to adjust some criteria and help them navigate the real world.
Waking Up in a Dangerous World
The first lesson is that America lives in a dark, dangerous world ready to explode at any moment and any place. Before June, few expected to witness another punishing war, much less American participation in it.
Why America Must Reject Isolationism and Its Dangers
However, this conflict happened. The target was Iran, a strategically placed Alaska-size giant that controls the flow of twenty percent of the world’s oil through the Strait of Hormuz. For decades, it has been the central puppeteer of proxy wars against Israel and the West all over the Middle East. It preaches and chants “Death to America.”
The present conflict is a wake-up call reminding the world about the hostile nations that seek to obtain powerful, in this case nuclear, weapons to use against America, its allies and everything that remains of Christianity and the Christian West.
Iran is part of a “multipolar” worldview aiming to displace America and the West from their position of hegemony. Russia, China, North Korea and Turkey are the other major members. Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela lead a second-tier membership circle. Brazil, South Africa and dozens of other nations allow themselves to be influenced by this new axis of evil, distancing themselves from the United States and the West.
This anti-Western alliance’s perspective is misnamed. Different as these nations are among themselves, they are united in their opposition to America and the West. Thus, the conflict is more accurately described as bipolar—West vs. anti-West. It is not truly “multipolar.”
Three years ago, Russia launched its unjust war of aggression against Ukraine, which is still raging. On October 7, 2023, Iran, through its proxy Hamas (joined by Hezbollah), launched an unjust war of aggression against Israel. Tomorrow, China might well do the same against Taiwan, North Korea against South Korea and Venezuela against Guyana. Russia may broaden its unjust war and attack one or more of the Baltic nations, Finland or Poland.

The lesson is that the West is not just threatened but under attack, and energetic defensive action can and must be taken now. The world has taken notice.
Hawkish Support of U.S. Leadership
The second lesson is that most Americans are aware of these dangers and will support any administration that works to make the world more secure.
There is a myth that, with President Donald Trump’s victory in last November’s elections, most Americans are now unconcerned with the rest of the world, that the vast majority of his voters want to ignore world conflicts and focus exclusively on America First.
The U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities exposes the lack of voter support for this retreat-from-the-world idea. It is a misconception with no evidence to support it.
In fact, President Trump’s voters overwhelmingly support actions like the Iran attack. A new poll by the Ronald Reagan Institute, taken just before the attack, showed that 90 percent of self-identified MAGA Republicans believe that “preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is important to U.S. security.” Some 74 percent of these say it matters “a great deal.”
The results become even more astonishing with polling showing MAGA voters to be more hawkish on American world leadership issues than non-MAGA establishment Republicans.

Support Is Increasing
The same Reagan Institute poll questions were asked over the last two years. The results show not only consistent support for America’s international involvement in strikes like the Iranian attack but significant increases in this support among MAGA voters since last year.
For example, a supermajority of 93 percent of MAGA voters agreed that “a strong U.S. military is essential to maintaining peace and prosperity, both at home and abroad.” That percentage increased to 96 percent in 2025. Support for a question asking if America should be “more engaged and take the lead” skyrocketed from 51 percent to 73 percent in one year. Other questions saw similar increases.
If energetic, conclusive action is taken, these Americans will support such efforts with overwhelming margins and great unity.
Americans Are Not Isolationists
The final lesson is that support for the strike will help dismantle the myth that America has become a nation of self-focused isolationists. While a cadre of radical isolationists exists among MAGA supporters, the vast majority of these Americans and many others on both sides of the aisle want America involved and see it as an essential part of the world’s security.
Not only do MAGA Americans favor actions like the Iranian strike, but they also support a wide range of anti-isolationist positions.

As The Washington Post’s Marc Thiessen observes, “On virtually every metric measured—from support for Taiwan and NATO to concerns about democracy, human rights, China and U.S. leadership—self-described MAGA Republicans are more supportive of strong, principled American leadership on the world stage than their non-MAGA GOP brethren.”
This support often represents an overwhelming majority of eighty or ninety percent, especially on key issues like China. And it is growing.
The world is a dark and dangerous place. The June 21 Iranian strike is an episode in a self-defense war against the enemies of the Christian West. Ukraine is another manifestation of this self-defense of the Christian West, and this brave country needs full support from America and the free world.
America has a role to play in this self-defense war. It cannot just walk away from its duties and responsibilities. The evidence shows that many Americans recognize this truth and will overwhelmingly support strong, principled action against rogue nations that wage direct or proxy wars against the West.
There must be no hesitation or weakness. A clear vision of who the West’s enemies are, coupled with prudent, wise, effective and resolute action against them, is what is urgently needed.
