When the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision overturned Roe v. Wade, woke companies nationwide rushed to announce they would finance their employees’ out-of-state abortion expenses.
A Texas insurance company had a better idea. It welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling by announcing it would offer financial support to parents who birth or adopt children.
In a June 27 Facebook post, Buffer Insurance outlined a refreshing list of pro-life and pro-family policies for its employees.
Buffer declared that the company will
- pay the medical costs for our employees who birth babies
- provide paid time off for employees to have maternity and paternity leave
Buffer also wrote that the company would pay “for the medical costs associated with adopting a baby.”
The company reaffirmed its pro-life intentions with another social media post, which also highlighted Buffer’s aim not just to promote the pro-life cause within its own walls but to expand it further.
“Employers: If you’d like to learn how you can provide these benefits to your employees, let us know,” the company stated. “We have ready-to-use policies you can add to your employee handbooks.”
Speaking on a podcast interview a few days later, Buffer Insurance president Sean Turner explained how the company looked to support parents who want to “expand” their families in response to the “woke” companies who were funding abortions for employees.
“We thought, surely there’s got to be an alternative solution,” Turner said.
Buffer vs. ‘Secular’ Pro-Abortion Companies
The announcement is in stark contrast to many other companies offering abortion funding in light of the Roe ruling. Buffer noted this, highlighting the difference between their policies and the “secular companies” who are “paying the travel costs for employees to abort babies out-of-state.”

Yahoo News has already compiled a list of companies that “support their employees’ abortion rights,” including by paying for women to travel across state lines into states where it is legal to kill their unborn children.
Many of these companies are prominent household names and include Amazon, Apple, Disney, CNN, CVS, HP, The New York Times, Facebook (now Meta), Microsoft, PayPal, Starbucks, Target, Uber and Yahoo.
Texas has enacted strong pro-life policies since June 24, with abortion facilities closing on the day of the Supreme Court’s ruling itself. A pre-Roe ban has now taken effect in the Lone Star state, making it a crime to “furnish the means for procuring an abortion.” The Texas Heartbeat Act, enacted in September 2021, also widely bans abortions from around six weeks into pregnancy.
Furthermore, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton noted that 30 days after the Supreme Court issues its official judgment (not merely the opinion) on Roe, abortions will become illegal “in most circumstances.”
Americans Flock to Support Pro-Life Company
“Even though it’s more expensive, the best benefit we can provide is making it easy to have the baby because, in the long-term interest of our employees, it’s going to be better for their health and happiness,” Mr. Turner said in an interview.
Buffer’s president added that contrary to reports pushed by the mainstream narrative suggesting that Americans are outraged by any curtailment on abortion access, Americans have not reacted in anger at the company’s pro-life policies but have instead flocked to support them.

“A swell in support of thousands,” he said. “Our email, our phone system, our social media is exploding because people love what we’re doing.”
Christian Ethos Underpinning Buffer’s Policy
One reason for such a contrast between Buffer and numerous pro-abortion companies is the insurance company’s self-described Christian identity. The company is neither ashamed nor secretive about this. In advertising for a new hire, Buffer wrote that the company seeks to “build and nurture a culture for our organization that produces and protects a God-honoring atmosphere.”
The company added that “[w]e lay the foundation for this cultural expression by personally living out Buffer’s values and instilling them in all who work alongside us on our staff.”
The notorious pro-abortion slogan “get your rosaries off my ovaries” highlights a fundamental aspect of the abortion debate, of which Buffer is not ignorant. Namely, that acceptance of abortion is linked to an attack upon the Christian faith and morality since only by denying natural law and the principles of morality can pro-abortion advocates promote the killing of the unborn.
TFP Petition Supporting Buffer
Following the Texas insurance company’s public stance against the abortion movement, the TFP organized a petition to thank Buffer Insurance for its defense of life.
“We must pray that this praiseworthy action becomes a trend among pro-life businesses. That way, the lives of many innocent children will be saved,” the petition reads.

“At a time when big businesses are paying their employees to kill their own children, it is encouraging to see that there are some people who aren’t afraid to stand up for life,” it continues, addressing Buffer CEO Sean Turner.
While many popular and widely-found businesses have doubled down in support of abortion, the petition praises Buffer for its counter-cultural stance, appealing to other companies to do likewise in defense of life. “Once again, thank you for setting an example for pro-life business owners nationwide. May God reward you for your courage.”
