Officials of Middleton High School in Middleton, Wisconsin have taken issue with a Christian lunch hour for students hosted by parents in a public park in their town.
You see, a group of parents with children attending the school started a “Jesus Lunch” in Fireman’s Park next to the school to strengthen the Christian values of their children in 2014.
These moms serve Chick Fil-A sandwiches, homemade desserts, fresh fruit and bottled water. And as food for thought for the day, a Christian message is shared during the lunch break.
The event is so popular — almost 500 attend it now.
However, it seems the very idea of the public manifestation of Christianity is ruffling some feathers in the high school.
In fact, Superintendent Donald Johnson and Principal Stephen Plank claim that these lunches are “divisive” and want them stopped.
They also claim that this park, though public property open to speech and assembly, is under the jurisdiction of the school.
According to The Christian Times, students in the park must conform to school policies and those “…policies in question include food handling, visitors to campus and expectations around student organized events.”
“Any food served to students must be approved by the school or the district to ensure food safety and cleanliness, adding that many students have food allergies.”
Tell Superintendent Donald Johnson and Principal Stephen Plank to stop hindering Christian freedom of speech.
It seems that freedom of speech is only for those who want to destroy Christian Civilization; those who want to blaspheme and commit sacrilege.
But suddenly there’s no freedom for a charitable “Jesus Lunch.” Why? Because Mom’s picnic lunch might not be as sanitary as the school cafeteria!
Phillip Stamman, attorney for the mothers that host this event, said:
“These are mothers, they are spending all their time and effort to show love for these kids and now they are being attacked by a superintendent and principal — trying to intimidate them.”
