Now Showtime is denigrating the priesthood: Offending Jesus directly!
There’s nothing humorous about the blatant and vile attacks on the priesthood in Showtime’s new comedy series I’m Dying Up Here.1
Showtime has crossed the line.
The program, produced by Jim Carrey, couches its hatred for the Catholic priesthood in instances of the vilest sexual acts.

Adam, one of the main characters, works at a Catholic Church. He approaches his employer, a priest, and asks for additional work to merit a raise. The priest agrees and takes him to a room where an elderly priest lays in a hospital bed and another priest stands by. He is told that his new “job” will be to masturbate in front of the sick “priest.” He hesitantly agrees on condition that the crucifix affixed to the wall be taken down.
What is the purpose of this filth if not a blatant display of disrespect?
This is absolutely disgusting and a horrible affront to the priesthood.
The priest represents Our Lord Jesus Christ and is ordained “Alter Christus,” another Christ.
Therefore, an assault against the priesthood is an affront to Christ Himself.
We cannot stand by while Our Lord and his priests are attacked.
