Tell the NFL commissioner to discipline the 49ers Colin Kaepernick

Showing great public disrespect for our police force, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick flaunted socks with pigs wearing police hats when he walked onto the field to practice on Aug. 10, and has worn them since to practice at least twice since. Apparently, the NFL thought this was OK. But here is the problem: When the Dallas Cowboys wanted to wear a logo on their helmets supporting the murdered Dallas police officers—they were NOT allowed.

Some may be tempted to think that this is free speech issue; well, it’s not. When a professional athlete attacks the dignity of our police force during an NFL event, it’s a public statement sanctioned by the NFL and his team.

If Kaepernick thinks he has the right to mock and disrespect our brave police, let him do so in the privacy of his home, because we Americans do not appreciate his unpatriotic behavior.

Tell NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to respect our Police

Kaepernick makes a pathetic attempt to justify his poor behavior by stating that he did this because “rogue” police put other police and the community in danger by creating mistrust and tension.

America has laws to deal with “rogue policemen.” Furthermore, the five policemen in Dallas and three in Baton Rouge  — brutally assassinated — were not "rogue policemen, " but honorable servants.

These policemen were murdered because they represent order. Our law enforcement community cannot be continuously blamed for all of society's problems, including the racial divide in our country. They do an excellent job and without them, we will have chaos. Perhaps that’s what Kaepernick and Godell want.

According to USA Today, executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations, Bill Johnson, lambasted Kaepernick and the NFL, stating: “It's just ridiculous that the same league that prohibits the Dallas [Cowboys] football club from honoring the slain officers in their community with their uniforms stands silent when Kaepernick is dishonoring police officers with what he's wearing on the field.”

According to NBC Bay Area News, a letter penned by police union members to the San Francisco 49ers stated that if the organization does not take action against Kaepernick, “it could result in police officers choosing not to work at your facilities.”

Tell commissioner Godell to discipline Kaepernick

And if Kaepernick wants to rebel against basic American values and common decency, tell him to find a different job!
