Did you know that if you work at Macy’s, they could fire you for being Catholic?
That’s exactly what happened at a Macy’s department store in Flushing, New York.
In May, Javier Chavez, senior store detective received a call informing him that a man was entering into the women’s bathroom.
This caused another female customer and her daughter to become afraid to enter into the facilities.
Chavez confronted the man and directed him to leave and use the men’s bathroom.
The perpetrator left to complain to the store officials, saying that he was a woman!
After the whole ordeal, Chavez was told by Macy officials that policy states that men can use women’s bathrooms.
Chavez responded saying he had not been aware of the change, but also that it was contrary to his religion and the Bible.
Not too long after, he was called by his human resources manager and was fired.
Fired for stating the teachings of his Faith!
Chavez states, “After my employer learned that I was a practicing Catholic, with religious concerns about this policy, I was terminated because of my religion.”
