On October 6, the Ottumwa City Council opened its meeting with an invocation to Satan.
The man delivering it was Matt Dalbey, a member of the Iowa chapter of The Satanic Temple. He concluded his invocation with these chilling words:
“Let us stand now, unbowed and unfettered by arcane doctrines born of fearful minds. Let us embrace the Luciferian impulse to eat of the Tree of Knowledge and dissipate our comforting delusions of old. That which will not bend must break, and that which can be destroyed by truth should never be spared its demise. It is done. Hail Satan.”
And now, he is scheduled to do it again—on Election Day.

Can we simply stand by and let this happen again?
No, because such indifference would be shameful.
A city council should not provide a public platform for Satanic invocations. Satan is not an amusing symbol or a harmless expression of rebellion.
He is the eternal adversary of God, the corrupter of souls, and the very embodiment of rebellion against the divine order. Invoking him in a public ceremony gives official recognition to evil. And as both of us know, evil has no rights!
And consider the date.
On Election Day, Americans go to the polls to determine the direction our nation will take. Do we want Satan influencing those decisions?
We must make our voices heard before November 3!
Please sign the petition urging Mayor Benjamin Foote and the Ottumwa City Council to cancel this upcoming Satanic invocation.
Do not wait until the invocation has happened a second time. Sign the petition today and make sure it never happens again.
