On May 9, 2023, Gov. Jay Inslee signed Washington State Senate Bill 5599 into law. It went into effect on July 23. An Associated Press article’s headline read “Trans Minors Protected From Parents Under Washington Law.”¹

Parents opposed this law that would allow the State to carry out sex “transitions” on their runaway minor children without their knowledge and consent.

The unjust law encourages minors suffering from gender dysphoria to run away from home. If a runaway minor shows up at a State-licensed shelter and asks to transition, the shelter must inform the Department of Children, Youth, and Families, not the parents. This agency’s “good-faith effort” to notify parents is satisfied when it asks the child for the parents’ contact information. If the child refuses to provide this information, then the child can stay in the shelter for 90 days pursuing “gender-affirming treatment.” Washington law deems non-transition-affirming parents abusive.

During his March 1, 2023 remarks on the Senate floor, Senator Marko Liias (D-21^st District) explained the legislative intent of SB 5599: “What this bill speaks to is when a young person is seeking certain essential healthcare services, essential reproductive care services . . . or seeking gender-affirming care in the face of opposition and hostility from their family. In those cases where that reunification process would separate that vulnerable young person from the healthcare that they’re entitled to . . . [the bill] says you’re not legally required to call their parents within 72 hours… When a family is standing between their young person and essential healthcare services, we need to focus on the essential needs of the young person, ensure they’re getting the care they deserve, and then focus on the important reunification process.”²

Two charitable organizations and ten parents sued the State of Washington, challenging the constitutionality of SB559 and related laws. On June 29, 2026, the Supreme Court of the United States granted a writ of certiorari. A decision is expected within a few months.

Natural moral law gives parents a sacred and inalienable duty and right to oversee the upbringing and education of their children, since they gave them life. Will the nation’s highest tribunal uphold these timeless parental rights?

Sadly Forgotten Truths About Transgenderism

1. “God created them male and female” (Gen. 5:2).

Gender ideology contradicts basic biology. The same progressive movement that once worshipped at the secular altar of science, to the exclusion of God and metaphysics, has turned against its own science-is-everything dogma. Now, all scientific evidence that disproves the transgender narrative is discarded as transphobic.

However, the American College of Pediatricians is clear:

“Human sexuality is an objective biological binary trait: ‘XY’ and ‘XX’ are genetic markers of health — not genetic markers of a disorder. The norm for human design is to be conceived either male or female. Human sexuality is binary by design, with the obvious purpose being the reproduction and flourishing of our species. This principle is self-evident … Individuals with DSDs [disorders of sex development] do not constitute a third sex.”

2. Biological Sex Cannot Change

Those who embrace the transgender ideology pretend that men can morph into women or that women can morph into men. This claim is false.

“It is physiologically impossible to change a person’s sex, since the sex of each individual is encoded in the genes—XX if female, XY if male. Surgery can only create the appearance of the other sex,” explain Dr. Richard P. Fitzgibbons, M.D., Philip M. Sutton, Ph.D., and Dale O’Leary in a well-documented study. These doctors affirm that sexual identity “is written on every cell of the body and can be determined through DNA testing. It cannot be changed.”

3. Transgender Ideology Warps Manhood and Womanhood

Transgender ideology claims that biological reality does not determine one’s sex-feelings do. Therefore, the differences between male and female, much like clothing, are separate from one’s identity and are constantly in flux. Manhood and womanhood are mere labels used to describe what one sees, but lack any substantial basis.

Feminist ideologue, lesbian, and writer Simone de Beauvoir affirmed that…

“One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.”

The whole point of feminism is not so much to eliminate the so-called oppressive male class but to abolish every difference between the sexes.

Thus, the homosexual, transgender, and feminist movements are allied. They share the same final goal: the destruction of male and female, manhood and womanhood.

4. Transgenderism Destroys Reason

A fundamental part of logic and reason is the idea that things have a purpose. Eyes, for example, are made to see. The wings of a bald eagle are made to fly. Lungs are made to breathe and absorb oxygen, while ears exist to hear. Likewise, the primary purpose of human sexuality is procreation.

However, transgenderism, like homosexuality and feminism, denies this principle and therefore attacks human reason itself. This denial is a form of deliberate madness.

5. Transgenderism Is Self-Destructive

The homosexual movement shatters lives. Regret, despair and suicide are common among those who adopt the “T” of the LGBT lifestyle.

Walt Heyer, a man who regrets having lived like a woman for many years, said: “I knew I wasn’t a real woman, no matter what my identification documents said. I had taken extreme steps to resolve my gender conflict, but changing genders hadn’t worked. It was obviously a masquerade.”

“Transgenders not only annihilate their birth identity,” Heyer explained, “they destroy everyone and everything in their wake: family, wife, children, brothers or sisters, and career. Certainly, this demonstrates the behavior of someone hell-bent on total self-destruction and self-harm.”

The stress involved with living a lifestyle that violates nature is apparent. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, 41% of those who identify as transgender in America have attempted to commit suicide. That’s twenty-five times higher than the national average.

6. Where Transgenderism Leads: Trans-Species

If a man can pretend to be a woman, why can’t he also claim to be non-human? Such a relativistic conclusion is regretfully found among those who claim to be part of the trans-species classification— also known as furries or otherkins. People with Species Identity Disorder consider themselves non-human and are featured at homosexual parades. The arguments used by the trans-species movement to question their human status are essentially the same as those of the transgender movement.

When feelings replace reality, logic dies; the intellect, the highest part of man, is degraded; and the animal rules. In today’s godless culture, everyone is pressured to play along with these depraved fantasies.

Once these disorders are regarded as normal, what can resist the unbridled passions from introducing greater forms of depravity? What will protect human reason from further destruction?

7. Transgenderism Offends God

The desire to change one’s biological sex not only denies reality but also offends God. Nobody is born male or female by chance, but in accordance with a plan of Divine Providence:

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you” (Jer. 1:5).

“Male and female He created them” (Gen. 1:27)

Therefore, to contradict the biological nature of humanity is an intentional act of revolt against the Creator.

Charity requires helping those afflicted or confused about their own sex, not to increase their confusion by offering them a false solution.

Charity “does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth” (1 Cor. 13:6). Therefore, mercy can never stand in opposition to the truth, for only the truth can set you free (John 8:32).
