A former convicted terrorist, Shahid Butt is running for local elections in the Birmingham ward of Sparkhill in the United Kingdom.

In the past, a healthy sense of justice and public outrage would have prevented such a thing from happening. However, times are changing…

“With the help of Allah”

Mr. Butt makes no secret of his Muslim beliefs. In his video message kicking off his election campaign for this May he says: “With the help of Allah, with your support and with these guys behind me, I know we are going to take this.”

From a young age, he was so committed to Islam that he joined a terrorist gang. In 1999, Shahid Butt was convicted and sent to jail for five years for an unsuccessful plan to bomb the British consulate, an Anglican church and a hotel in Yemen.

He claims that he is innocent of the charges.

The Islamisization of Britain

His election campaign underscores the deep cultural transformation of Britain where Islam is growing fast.

Birmingham has one of the largest concentration of Muslims in the UK with 29.9 percent practicing the religion.

According to Wikipedia, 6.5 percent of the population of England and Wales is Muslim. Thus, Islam is currently the second largest religion in the kingdom.

No Sense of Honor

When an ex-terrorist runs for elections in a country, it reveals how honor no longer rules. There is no healthy sense of outrage left. The competent authorities do nothing to prevent such a thing.

However, several victims of terror attacks have expressed frustration since Shahid announced his candidacy.

Travis Frain survived the Westminster Bridge car ramming attack in 2017. He protests that, “Allowing a convicted terrorist to stand for election in the UK would make a mockery of our political system, and risks sending an insidious message to victims of terrorism across the country.”

Christian Fisher survived the 7/7 London Tube attack that saw more than 50 people killed by several suicide bombings in the public transit system. He warned that, “Like many of us we can all find a mistake or two in our past. But Shahid, becoming a Jihadi fighter and eventually gaining a terrorism conviction is far outside the understandable parameters of a mistake.”

A Bleak Future Without God

Examples like this small election symbolizes the extent of the indifference toward terrorism that is sweeping across the UK and the West in general.

The once-Christian West aggressively embraced secularism leaving a spiritual void. Instead of return to Christianity, the void is being filled by Islam and pagan ideology.

Without a return to order centered on God, His Church and His law, the future will be very bleak.
