Register your protest to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her insult against Saint Damien of Molokai August 12th, 2020

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) just insulted Saint Damien of Molokai, whose statue is in the U.S. Capitol Building representing the state of Hawaii.

She said that honoring this saint is “what patriarchy and white supremacist culture looks like.”

How dare she insult Saint Damien as part of a white supremacist culture! Saint Damien devoted his life to the spiritual and physical needs of the poor members of a leper colony on the Hawaiian island of Molokai. He contracted leprosy in the process of serving the poor lepers and improved their life. In fact, he gave his life for them.

I don’t know about you but I cannot remain silent when AOC attacks and insults this heroic saint! He is a shining example of what we need today.

As Catholics, we can’t just sit back and let a saint in heaven be insulted. We must defend the honor of the Catholic Church against such attacks.

Saint Damien of Molokai and the Catholic Church should not be used by the left to promote their narrative that calls everything racist. Charity knows no race. And Saint Damien is a good example of selfless devotion and Christian charity.

The example of Divine charity is Our Lord Jesus Christ; He came down from heaven to redeem all mankind from sin.

I want to register my protest against your recent insult of Saint Damien of Molokai in a recent Instagram story.

As a Catholic, I am offended and insulted that you would associate Saint Damien with a white supremacist patriarchal culture. This is completely false. Charity knows no race.

He was a Saint who dedicated his life to God, serving the lowliest of people and converting souls. You owe all Catholics an apology.

Sincerely,
