This year we celebrate
the tenth anniversary of the launching of the book:
Nobility and Analogous Traditional Elites.
This last work of Professor Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
outlines a true program to bring the world out of the
chaos into which it is sinking. It indicates the path
for an authentic restoration of Christian Civilization
in our days. The book’s eternal truths remain
ever timely.
Over 100 local supporters
and friends seeking a traditional holiday atmosphere
where Christ is still found in Christmas attended an
annual Open House, held at the national headquarters
of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition,
Family and Property (TFP) in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania
on December 21.
On December 19,
2003 the American TFP sent a letter to President Bush,
expressing its gratitude for the stand he took in favor
of a constitutional amendment defending traditional
marriage, but also its concerns that the door is still
open to "civil unions."
In opposition to the
growing trend to celebrate Christmas in secular fashion,
the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family
and Property (TFP) invited Fr. John Trigilio to speak
about the sublime meaning of this important feast on
December 12, to a crowd of 80.
The Christmas season,
normally a tranquil time in which Catholics gather
to celebrate the birth of Christ, has become the stage
for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)
to attack the Blessed Mother.
"The Feast of
the Immaculate Conception could not be a better date
to discuss the Fatima Message and its application
for our days" was the message of a special December
8th talk titled "How You Can Face Evil by Drawing
from the Fatima Message" given to TFP friends
and supporters in Miami, Fla.
On Sunday, Dec.
7th, over 110 faithful Catholics gathered at Washburn
University in Topeka, Kansas to protest a blasphemous
sculpture titled, "Holier Than Thou."

Washburn
University's Campus “Beautification” Committee
recently placed a blasphemous sculpture on campus.
The statue depicts the bust of a bishop with a fat,
cruel and ugly face. The miter he wears resembles
a phallic symbol. The caption beneath chides the Catholic
Church for Her “fear-inducing” sacrament
of Confession. Protest this attack against God and
His Church.
The
American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family
and Property (TFP) issued this statement about the
November 18 decision of the Massachusetts Supreme
Judicial Court finding no constitutional impediments
for same-sex “marriage” in the Commonwealth.
The
ABC program, "Jesus, Mary and Da Vinci," is partially
based on the best-selling novel, The Da Vinci Code,
which fantasizes that St. Mary Magdalene was married
to Christ and fled Jerusalem with His child following
His crucifixion.
Bishop
Juan Rodolpho Laise's talk, “A Capuchin Bishop
Reflects on the Crisis in the Church” set the
tone for an evening of conversation and thought at
the American TFP Washington Bureau October 15.
Was
it the meetings, the lively conversations or the making
of new friends? Was it the bishop’s sermon, the prince’s
convocation or the hero’s testimony? Was it the rosary
procession or the final High Mass? It is hard to decide
which parts of the weekend were best since it takes
a little time to sort out the impressions.
It has been six
long years since playwright Terrence McNally first
staged his play Corpus Christi in New York
City. Since then, the work, which portrays Our Lord
Jesus Christ and the apostles as homosexuals, has
generated protests, local indignation and negative
publicity at alternative theaters. Thousands of Catholics
have come to Our Lord’s defense with vibrant and moving
acts of reparation. No major venue has dared touch
it.
Some newspapers
have decided to publish “homosexual unions” in their
wedding sections. If you are offended by this kind
of news coverage, join our They Aren’t Married Campaign
and send a message of protest to offending newspapers
by clicking here.
The American TFP
is getting involved in defending the traditional family
against the great push for the homosexual union. We
have opened a new page on our website which you can
use as a resource page and read about the latest developments.
We will have an action box so you can check out the
latest actions you can do.
With the push for
homosexual "marriage" gaining momentum in America,
the American Society for the Defense of Tradition,
Family and Property (TFP) with its Traditional Marriage
Crusade is starting a petition drive to the nation’s
bishops asking them to deal with this great threat
to the family.
In the supercharged
atmosphere of the abuse scandals, Peter Mullan’s film
The Magdalene Sisters is a sensationalist melodrama
that only adds fuel to the fire. Click here for more.
Over the last fifty
years, a plethora of liturgical traditions and ceremonial
have undeniably been lost. Today, many Catholics experience
a growing hunger for the mystery and beauty that they
never knew.
“Crime control”
not “gun control” was the message of the National
Rifle Association’s Charles Cunningham, who spoke
to a standing room only audience in Sao Paulo Brazil
on August 14.
Our summer camps
are gaining a reputation for being formative, entertaining
and exciting. This year·s camp held from August 4-13
at the Headquarters of the American Society for the
Defense of Tradition, Family and Property in Spring
Grove, Penn. certainly surpassed expectations.
Setting, timely
topics, qualified faculty and eager students were
the right ingredients to supply not only an intellectual
challenge but all the elements for confirming a new
counter-revolutionary tradition at the Third TFP Summer
University Course. Click here for more.
From July 16-25,
the famous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue made
an unexpected but blessed visit to the national headquarters
of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition,
Family and Property (TFP) and the site of its America
Needs Fatima campaign, in Spring Grove, Penn.
The American TFP
endorses the Federal Marriage Amendment (FMA) as part
of a broader strategy against the homosexual agenda.
Like other pro-family organizations, the TFP is well
aware of amendment's limitations but sees a tactical
advantage to endorsing the FMA.
The TFP’s 2nd Annual
Call to Chivalry Summer Camp for boys in Louisiana
really was quite different. The focus was not on computers
or basketball like other camps but on Catholic heroism.
The case before
the Court was Lawrence v. Texas. Many hailed the high
court’s decision as a Roe v. Wade for the homosexual
movement. The analogy was well drawn. Both Roe and
Lawrence are dark, tragic pages in our history.
No content with
with the public outrage she caused in 2001, Alma Lopez
seems destined to test fate once again. Her blasphemous
computer collage "Our Lady" is appearing
once again.
The rally served
to pay reparation for the offense against Our Lord
and the Church. It united Catholics from across the
city in common cause ready for future actions. Lastly,
it also sent a strong message to pro-blasphemy supporters
that such presentations will not be accepted sitting
down.
On June 7, pro-life
leaders and activists from around the country converged
on the windy city to celebrate with Joe Scheidler
and the Pro-Life Action League, the landmark Supreme
Court ruling in favor of the unborn. The 8 to1 ruling
marked the end of a 17-year court battle in which
pro-abortionists sought to use racketeering laws (RICO)
against pro-life Americans.
No one denies the
reality of the sexual abuse scandals and their cover-up.
However, many reformers and dissidents now propose
solutions that take advantage of this legitimate indignation
and toil feverishly to shake the very foundations
of the Church as an institution.
On May 16, twelve
members of the American Society for the Defense of
Tradition, Family and Property left their home in
Spring Grove, Pennsylvania. Their destination: the
Kresge Little Theater at the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology (MIT). Their purpose: hold a 2-1/2 hour
rally, in protest against the play, The Most Fabulous
Story Ever Told.
There are two ways
visitors can experience Louisiana. You can take the
beaten path, the way full of the ready-made experiences
of the tourist who lives to tell his tale to others.
However, there is a path less traveled and that is
a journey through Catholic Louisiana which reveals
a more authentic side of the state.
The nation’s
attention is rightly focused on the war in Iraq, where
American and allied armed forces are bravely engaged
in battle. However, America is also locked in a second
war that is equally important for victory: the psychological
battle for public opinion. Read the TFP statement
on the pacifist offense and in defense of national
sovereignty.
On March 20, The
American TFP sent a letter to President George W.
Bush, pledging its full support for his decision to
send US troops into combat against the Saddam Hussein
Regime.
The war with Iraq
is on everyone's mind. Many are offering their perspective
on the crisis and its implications for the post 9-11
world. These perspectives are undoubtedly important
and we offer yet another: a Fatima perspective.
We are no longer
talking about authentic medical progress where nature
is observed, understood and perfected. Backed by a
biotech industry that has already patented and redesigned
some animal species, this is a new frontier that could
seek to change the very nature and form of human life
itself.
Few are those with
the courage to challenge prevailing opinions and beliefs.
Fewer still are such challenges which pass the test
of time. Professor Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira's
masterful book, Revolution and Counter-Revolution
is one such work.
On Sunday, February
9, the American TFP vibrant supporter network in St.
Louis held a local launching for the hard-hitting
book, I Have Weathered Other Storms: A Response
to the Scandals and Democratic Reforms that Threaten
the Catholic Church. American TFP Speaker John
Horvat spoke to a group of 40 friends at the Maria
Center.
Many of us buy wall
calendars but after casually flipping through the
pictures the first two weeks of the year we tend to
forget them. Ozzy Osbourne’s latest extravagant effort,
a family calendar, is hard to forget.
On Friday, January
24, the TFP Washington Bureau invited friends and
supporters to a local launching for the hard-hitting
TFP book, I Have Weathered Other Storms.
Speaker John Horvat of the American TFP spoke to a
full and lively auditorium of nearly 100 people.
Facing frigid weather
and glacial winds the American Society for the Defense
of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) joined well
over 100,000 concerned Americans from across the country
for the annual March for Life in Washington
D.C.
With the election
of Luis Inacio Lula de Silva (Lula) in Brazil, our
southern neighbor took a sharp turn to the left. "Lula"
together with leftist leaders in Ecuador, Venezuela
and Cuba threatens to form an "axis of evil"
south of the border. To make Americans aware of this
danger, the TFP Washington Bureau launched an e-newsletter
called LulaWatch.
On January 16, 2003
the American Society for the Defense of Tradition,
Family and Property (TFP) sent a letter to Secretary
of State Colin Powell, urging the U.S. government
to cease all future funding and involvement with U.N.
Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA). The
letter cites a recent Catholic Family & Human
Rights Institute study showing that UNFPA programs
are directly responsible for China’s One Child
Policy and Vietnam’s Two Child Policy.
