Shipping giant United Parcel Service (UPS) recently went limp and failed to flex its financial muscle in the Cultural War by giving in to demands of the homosexual lobby and cutting funding to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Under the pretext of “anti-discrimination,” UPS has discriminated against the honorable policy maintained by the Boy Scouts of not allowing avowed homosexuals membership or to be scoutmasters.
Avowed homosexual does not refer to a person with same-sex attraction or even one who has committed the sin of homosexuality. Avowed refers to a person who openly admits to practicing the vice of homosexuality. The Scout’s policy is not a persecution of individual homosexuals it simply does not want open homosexuals influencing the young boys.
However, it seems there is no place that is free from being politicized by the pro-homosexual lobby. Now, even the innocent campground has been turned into a battlefield over sexual issues.
In 2000, the U.S. Supreme court sided with the BSA against a discrimination suit brought about by a homosexual assistant scoutmaster citing freedom of speech and rights to free association.
After the suit, founder of Scouts for Equality, Zach Wahls, began a campaign to pressure Boy Scout corporate donors to cut financial support for the BSA. He states, “That bravery is what Scouting is all about. Corporate America gets it better than most: policies that discriminate aren’t simply wrong, they’re bad for business and they’re hurting the Scouting community.”
Wahls does not seem too concerned with the future of the BSA as he petitions corporate sponsors to cut funding. He goes on to say that not supporting the homosexual agenda is bad for business; perhaps he has not read how well Chick-fil-A is doing.
Corporate America is forging full steam ahead with support for the homosexual agenda by creating an atmosphere of hostility toward anyone who opposes the official line of political correctness. If the Scouts do not tow the party line, this longstanding institution may be faced with more and more funding difficulties. This applies not only to the Scouts but so many other areas of American life. The homosexual movement is shattering the status quo and quickly dividing people in every walk of life, such as families, business, education, politics and our military.
What is needed is bravery. However, not the so called “bravery” to go with the liberal flow of things. In face of the enormous pressure from the media to give in, Corporate America needs to display the courage and spine to stand up for Christian morals. It needs to defy those who discriminate against those who uphold morality while claiming to support tolerance, equality, coexistence and dialogue. Like the Scouts, they need to do their duty.
